It feels as if Artful Dodgings has grown from a tiny little sea monkey like embryo into a wild adolescent.

This weekend, the show took its first steps out of the studio and into the streets of Downtown St. Petersburg’s Cafe Bohemia. The St. Petersburg Skirts ( www.theskirts.org) hosted the Nutcracker Race and asked Artful Dodgings to provide the jams for the pre, during and after party.

Special thanks to the Thrash Money Millionaires that volunteered their time and equipment to help me make this happen.

We had beer, music, food and cool folks. What a great time! Pics from the evening’s debauchery below.

Six days on my ass and I am so thankful to be back in the game. No radio, no work and no show going for a whole week really felt like punishment.

So H1N1 is gone, but the Artful Dodger is back. Sans a co-host this week, but nonetheless holding down the fort.

In the last week I checked out Peaches at Club Firestone in Orlando-and had my face melted off by a five foot power packed peaches rocking a Wendy O. Williams half shave.

Club Firestone hosted Peaches last week.

Then Melt Banana at Crowbar, where the female fronted Japanese rock band shredded onstage, bringing the audience to a boil-there was even a fight. I am in love with this band, their bass player is an itty bitty dynamo girly who totally showed her fretless, and the audience who is boss.

Daniel Williams Design for the GET STICKY Contest

Lucky you! A double dose of the fresh new duo this week. So we wanted to give you a nice mellow musical ride last night after a month of audio assault and the halloween weekend.

Nothing better than those moody songs on the radio while you drive home from fest or simply clean the leftovers from halloween.

If you dig our tuneage-show us your tips, while we don’t get paid to spin fresh tracks, the station still has to stay on air:

So please, take a handful of your chosen sweetness and sit down and enjoy the tunes.

Anyone who hasn’t tested the water’s with soundtracking your love makin’ is missing out.

I’ve come a long way since my “Portishead or Pretty Hate Machine” days. Although, I must admit they’ve provided fond memories. But NIN and Portishead aren’t the only artists to get steamy with.

Here is a sampling of tunes that provide a soundtrack to your love or lust.

JJ’s “Ecstasy”- Okay so I hate that damn lick it like a lollipop song, both versions-one by a crappy rapper who doesn’t know how to get a lady lick it like a lollipop and another by a mediocre walmart rock band hoping to score some booty.

But this…oh this song—-is delish.

Hooverphonic “2wicky”

This track harkens back to that 1970’s bow chicka wow wow beat. Combined with breathy vocals about what could go wrong, this track is spicy.

Wax Tailor “How I Feel” featuring the lovely miss Nina Simone. Anyone ballsy enough to mix nina into one of their tracks and incorporate that lovely pulsing beat simultaneously has won my affections.

Tv on the Radio “Staring at the Sun”

Few song’s capture the rush you encounter when you are falling for someone. Staring at the Sun does the trick in my opinion, that perpetual motion forward, an adrenaline rush you can’t really explain. Plus, it’s Tv on the Radio.

Mike Doughty “Down on the River”

Doughty’s Soul Coughing days are indeed memorable musically, but as far as this list goes-his solo project did the trick. Heard this on WMNF’s sonic detour in 2006, haven’t been able to get it out of my head yet. I like references to old south in a good get it on tune. Any song that references honey, sugar, baby, molasses, etc…

So I have a dirty little secret, I love to google people, places, things, and spend hours looking at the results.

I googled Artful Dodgings. Here are some hand picked links I found. I didn’t even realize people knew we existed.
